Hasbro Pulse Con: Marvel Legends reveals

ENTER THE VOID (along with your payment info for the Spider-Man: No Way Home figures we’ve been waiting for).

On Friday during the Hasbro Pulse Con event, we got a boatload of new and surprising Marvel Legend reveals. Let’s take a look at what’s coming our way.

The following figures will retail for $24.99 and are currently available for pre-order (with an expected arrival this winter) from most major retailers…kind of. For reasons that will soon become obvious, many of these offerings are going in and out of stock.

I’d also like to take a moment to point out that back when the $90 Spider-Man: No Way Home 3-pack was revealed, I and many others pointed out how crazy it was to pay $30 per figure without any accessories — especially when they didn’t include alternate unmasked heads, which would no doubt be released once Hasbro got its production downpayment from all the 3-pack buyers.

While plenty of folks agreed with us, others vehemently argued that this would never happen. In their view, the $90 price tag on the No Way Home 3-pack indicated that Hasbro somehow did not secure the likeness rights for Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield, thus making unmasked head accessories an impossibility.

Let’s see how that played out, shall we?

Hat tip to @preterniadotcom for being on the ball as usual with live-stream screencaps to help fill the gaps when promo photos aren’t available.

Spider-Man

Look at that nice Tom Holland facial portrait. You also have to marvel at the beautiful sculpt, brilliant articulation, and those absolutely GORGEOUS web lines on the Spidey costume.

Sure would be nice if a similarly great figure could be made for the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man…

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Well would you look at that!

The Tobey Maguire facial portrait isn’t as good as Tom’s, but it’s still pretty good. And the rest of the figure is superb. I’m not sure why this one comes with one fewer set of hands, though. Maybe Tobey Maguire’s agent negotiated a slightly higher price to use his facial likeness.

I wonder if we’ll get an Andrew Garfield figure next.

Amazing Spider-Man

BAM!

Andrew’s looking a little grim, but it’s still a nice portrait. Just like the previous two figures, this is fantastic all-around. Buying all three will cost you $15 less than the 2022 3-pack without unmasked heads and an inferior Tom Holland Spidey. Congratulations to all of you who decided to wait.

Now let’s see what else is in the wave.

MJ

I wasn’t sure I’d feel attached enough to the MCU MJ to buy a figure of her, but this one is a great likeness of Zendaya. It also comes with a great Macchina di Kadavus accessory.

Matt Murdock

That Charlie Cox facial portrait isn’t great. Maybe it’s the glasses, which are sadly unremovable. Still a decent figure, but I’m betting we’ll get much better ones when Daredevil: Born Again is released.

Sandman

The good news: Some decent accessories and articulation.

The bad news: No human Thomas Hayden Church head and that unavoidable crotch.

The following No Way Home figures are expected to go up for preorder sometime next week. They will retail for $49.99, which is a tough pill to swallow. That said, one of them might actually be worth it.

Delux Green Goblin

Good lord that’s awesome.

Even with the incredible paint job, Willem Dafoe portrait, sculpt/articulation, mask/goggle accessories, and glider, $50 is kind of steep. Steep enough to keep me from buying it, though? Probably not.

Doc Ock

It’s undoubtedly a cool figure, especially with you consider the interchangeable tentacles. But $50 cool? I’m not too sure.

This next wave of figures will retail for $24.99 and go up for preorder on October 3 with an expected arrival this winter. We already saw most of them at SDCC, but the real star of the show is the Build-A-Figure.

Power Princess

Still looks like the great figure we saw back in July that will finally complete the Squadron Supreme.

Justice

Once again, a great gift for New Warriors fans.

Vision

Still a good-looking update for folks who still need/want this character in their collection.

Crystar

Two months later and I still can’t believe this is a Marvel Legends figure — or how great it turned out.

Savage Namor

Huh. Was not expecting this one. Pretty sure I’ll pass, but definitely a neat concept.

Namorita

I’ve never been a big fan of the character, but this is am excellent looking figure.

Black Panther

I already have enough Black Panthers in my collection, but this one is outstanding for folks who still need him.

The Void

You have got to be kidding me.

A whole wave I’m passing on has a fantastic Build-A-Figure of one of my favorite modern villains. Guess I’ll be scouring eBay for parts to start the new year.
